Bangkok Airways has resumed its direct service between Hong Kong and Koh Samui, following a 3 year hiatus during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Phuket Express reports that tourism officials welcomed the return of the first direct flight after the suspension was lifted.
Bangkok Airways are the sole owners of the Samui Airport and routinely price their direct flights into the island at a premium, sometimes up to 5 times what would expect from similar length domestic flights around Thailand.
Representatives of the Tourism Authority of Thailand were at Koh Samui International Airport to greet passengers arriving from Hong Kong. According to the report, a total of 113 passengers were on board the flight.
The report goes on to state that Bangkok Airways resumed the service due to high levels of interest from Hong Kong-based passengers. Flights will operate 3 times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
