The body of a German tourist has been recovered from the water at Koh Samui’s Chaweng Beach, according to a Phuket Express report. It’s understood the man had gone swimming with his girlfriend. Bo Phut Police say they were notified of the drowning and arrived on the scene with rescue workers.

The unnamed man was a 58 year old German national, whose identity is being withheld until next-of-kin have been informed via his embassy. It’s understood the man entered the water with his girlfriend on Monday afternoon. She got out of the water some time after and left the beach. When she later returned, she was unable to find her boyfriend.

The man’s body was subsequently found by a jet ski rider. Emergency responders tried to resuscitate the man but their efforts failed as it’s believed he’d been dead for some time.
