A Kazakh man, who’d been drinking heavily and smoking weed, is accused of chasing after local residents on Koh Pha Ngan, trying to attack them. The man has also admitted to damaging property and generally running amok, according to a Phuket Express report.

The president of the Surat Thani Tourism Association says the man has admitted to all his offences, blaming his heavy consumption of marijuana and beer. Natnawat Sakda says the drunk Kazakh man caused damage at several restaurants and other properties in the course of his rampage. In addition, he is accused of chasing locals and trying to attack them at the island’s popular Haad Rin Beach.

After running amok for a bit, it’s understood the man then ran into the sea, then continued to run around trying to evade arresting officers and locals who were trying to catch him. The man was eventually detained and admitted to police that he had been smoking a lot of weed and had also drunk too much beer, causing him to lose control.

The Phuket Express reports that the man has agreed to pay for all damages. The authorities have not released his name and it’s unknown if he will face any further action, such as deportation or legal charges.
