A ferry that operates between Surat Thani’s Don Sak Pier and Koh Samui has been left partially submerged and damaged after being hit by strong waves. It’s now sitting on the bottom, still tied up to the Don San pier. The passengers and the cars weren’t onboard at the time.

The Raja Ferry vessel was docked at the pier at the time. No injuries have been reported.

According to a spokesperson from the Surat Thani Marine Office, the vessel was docked at Donsak Pier when it was struck by big waves. It’s understood that the force of the waves caused the ferry to hit something underwater, which then caused water to flood into the vessel. The ferry then began to lean heavily to one side.

There were no passengers on the ferry at the time and officials say the damage to the vessel is not significant and should be quick to repair.
