Body of Burmese woman found near Koh Tao after cargo boat capsizes

The body of a Burmese woman missing after a cargo boat capsized near Koh Tao in the Gulf of Thailand has been recovered from the water. The woman, named as 39 year old Aye Pa Pa Khaing, was working on the vessel with 5 others when it was hit by strong waves and capsized.

The incident happened last Friday after the boat had departed from Chumphon, on the Gulf coast in southern Thailand. According to a Phuket Express report, apart from Ms Khaing, her  co-workers all survived.

An unnamed local fisherman subsequently spotted the Burmese woman’s body floating in the waters around 12 nautical miles off Koh Tao. The Royal Thai Navy were notified and rescuers also found around 20 gallon drums floating in the same area.
