A drunk foreign man, yet un-named, has been arrested in Pattaya for allegedly assaulting another foreign man and a Thai woman.
The Pattaya News reports that an intoxicated foreigner allegedly attacked a German man and his Thai wife at the Gold Bar in the notorious Soi 6, off the Pattaya Beach Road.
Police were alerted just after midnight yesterday, August 20, and arrived on the scene accompanied by rescue workers.
They found a German man, named as 60 year old Ral Peter Mallon, who had sustained a serious head injury. With him was his Thai wife, 27 year old Pornwin Ramakul, who had a loose tooth. Both were given first-aid at the scene before being taken to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital.
One witness, named as 28 year old Kanyarat Wansena, says she was sitting at the bar with her friends when a drunk foreign man started to harass them. They tried to calm him down, but he became increasingly aggressive, prompting Mr Mallon to intervene.
The drunk man then punched Mr Mallon, knocking him down and causing him to hit his head off the floor. It’s understood his head injury required more than 9 stitches and medics kept him in hospital for observation due to the risk of brain trauma.
The suspect, whose nationality has not been confirmed, was identified only as 44 year old “Michael”. He was arrested and later seen giving the middle finger to photographers as he stood in front of police officers.
According to the Pattaya News report, he also attempted to settle the issue by offering to compensate the victims financially. However, police plan to take legal action against him.
