The family of a British man, thought to be missing in Bangkok, says they have it on good authority that their relative has left Thailand.
According to a report in the British Sun newspaper, the family says a man claiming to be a “Thai immigration officer” confirmed Simon Robinson boarded his flight from Thailand as planned. The search for the missing Briton has now shifted to the flight’s destination, the Finnish capital of Helsinki.
Mr Robinson was initially believed missing in Bangkok, with his last phone signal detected minutes from Suvarnabhumi Airport on July 26, the day he was scheduled to fly home.
When he didn’t arrive back in the UK and his family didn’t hear from him, it was thought he was missing in the Thai capital. However, his sister, Sarah Robinson Dale says the family has it on good authority that Mr Robinson did depart Bangkok.
“We have received confirmation that Simon did board the flight on the 26th July. A massive thank you to everyone that has shared and the kind people that have found this information out as the authorities at both sides haven’t done anything. I am waiting for a call back from the police and embassy in Helsinki.”
The Sun reports that the family’s information comes as a result of them being contacted by a man “claiming to be a Thai immigration officer”. It’s understood the family was informed that Mr Robinson boarded Finnair flight AY142 to Helsinki.
