A hungry elephant gave a passing truck a gentle nudge with his trunk – and tipped the vehicle over. Nation Thailand reports that the incident happened in Chachoengsao, east of Bangkok, as the truck was being driven through the Khao Ang Rue Nai Wildlife Sanctuary.
It’s understood the elephant wandered into the road, causing the truck to stop. The animal then used its trunk to tip it over. The incident was captured on film by the occupants of another car. It’s believed the elephant was motivated by hunger and may have thought there was food inside the truck.

The driver of the car behind, Tao, says his wife filmed the incident. He says everyone in his vehicle, particularly his son, panicked as they witnessed it. Tao got in touch with officials from the wildlife sanctuary, fearing for the occupants of the truck.
“I could not believe that a wild elephant was using its trunk to push the truck over on the roadside.”
Sanctuary officials arrived on the scene and were able to escort the elephant from the area and help the uninjured driver out of the truck.
Meanwhile, Tao says he’s worried the elephant could return for a repeat performance unless preventative measures are taken.
“I urge officials to keep a close watch on the area, and motorists to avoid driving near this elephant.”
