It was only a matter of time… there was going to be a ‘beach driver’ from YouTube who was trying to make some ‘amazing’ content. In this case, they tried and failed.
Netizens have slammed the popular Thai influencer after he drove his car on to a beach in Chumphon in a bid to create content for his followers. It didn’t quite go to plan.
Thai PBS World reports that the “SpriteDer SPD” channel is run by Netijenn Pakuikham and currently has 14.1 million subscribers. It has received over 3.38 billion views since its creation 10 years ago.
At around 5.30pm on Sunday, May 26, Netijenn drove his car – a black Tesla – onto a beach in the Langsuan district. OK… an electric car on a beach!
Unfortunately for Netijenn, his plan came to a sudden end when the car became stuck in the sand – a fate that has befallen several others before him, as can be seen HERE, HERE, and HERE .
Nevertheless, the incident went viral anyway, with several passersby filming the car stuck in the sand and sharing the footage on social media. Some took selfies with the influencer and praised him for his efforts.
Other netizens weren’t so kind, criticising Netijenn for setting a “bad example”, and urging the authorities to take action against him.
The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources has described the influencer’s actions as “inappropriate”, with director Pinsak Suraswadi saying “marine animals could have been affected”.
However, as the beach is not a protected area, Netijenn is not expected to face any legal action, although Pinsak says it may have been a violation of traffic regulations.
