A minivan driver has been seriously injured after colliding with a parked trailer truck in the southern province of Phatthalung. Eleven passengers were also injured in the accident, which happened on the Trang – Songkhla Road, in the Pabon district yesterday, May 9.
The Phuket Express reports that Pabon Police and local rescue workers arrived on the scene to find a damaged minivan on the road, behind a trailer truck. The driver of the truck, named as 48 year old Warakorn Mueanwai, told paramedics that he had parked on the side of the road about a minute before the minivan crashed into him.
Rescue workers found the seriously injured minivan driver inside his vehicle. He has been named as 48 year old Sirichai Soosoe and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Eleven of his passengers – 8 women, 2 men, and a 5 year old girl – had sustained minor injuries and were also transported to a local hospital.
One of the minivan passengers, named in the report as Ms Nawarat Suwannakan, spoke to Thai media to say the minivan driver had been driving very fast on the way from Trang. Pabon Police have launched an investigation into the accident to determine if legal action is necessary.
