Thailand’s deputy national police chief says the biological father of a missing 8 month old boy will be charged with statutory rape of a minor. In addition, Surachate Hakparn says the mother’s partner is to be charged with procuring an underage girl for prostitution.

According to a Thai PBS World report, the missing child’s father has been named only as “Jae”, while the mother’s partner has been named as “Pud”. Surachate says both men have admitted to committing the offences.

Meanwhile, the child’s mother, named as “Nid”, has not admitted knowledge of anything, despite more than 2 hours of interrogation. The woman has repeatedly changed her story and Surachate has described her behaviour as very suspicious.

According to Surachate, Nid was only 15 when Pud lured her into having sex with Jae, a friend of her father’s, in exchange for money. As a result, Jae is being charged with statutory rape and Pud is being charged with procuring a child for prostitution.

The report goes on to state that police do not believe anyone entered the house where the missing baby boy lived. Nid has admitted that a previous claim of hers, that a man wearing a yellow shirt took the child away, is false. Investigating officers have now turned their attention to her, but she continues to state that she knows nothing.

It’s understood that on the day the baby went missing, doctors at a local clinic had advised his parents to take the boy to hospital as his temperature was 39 degrees Celsius. Instead, Nid took the baby home.
