Police in Bangkok have had to intervene in a scuffle involving around 20 transgender women from the Philippines and 4 Thai ladyboys. Nation Thailand reports that the fight broke out at a restaurant in Soi Sukhumvit 11, near Nana BTS station.
Officers from Lumphini Police Station were called to break up the fight, where a Thai ladyboy was injured. It’s understood the two groups have had words in the past, but this is thought to be the first time things got physical.
The Chief of Lumphini Police, says his officers were dispatched to the scene and managed to get the situation under control and ensure public safety. All parties involved were then taken to the police station for questioning.
The police continue to speak to both groups as well as eye witnesses. It’s understood they’re also carrying out checks on the immigration status of the Philippine citizens to ensure they haven’t broken any immigration laws.
Meanwhile, around 100 people, most of them Thai ladyboys, descended on the station yesterday to ask for an update. They have also called for a stronger police presence on Soi Sukhumvit 11/1 to protect Thai ladyboys.
