A Thai woman is still missing after the massive earthquake that struck Türkiye and northern Syria last week. The woman, who has been named as Wilairat Channaul, was in Türkiye at the time of the attack and has not been seen since. The death toll from the 7.8-magnitude quake currently stands at over 36,000.

The Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara says Thai citizens and their families in Turkey can contact the embassy for emergency assistance by calling +90 533-641-5698. Family members in Thailand can also contact the Department of Consular Affairs in Bangkok, 24 hours a day, on 02-572-8442.

Rescue efforts are continuing in Türkiye and northern Syria, but hopes are fading of any more survivors being found. A crew of 42 rescuers from Thailand’s Urban Search and Rescue team is currently assisting with the rescue effort, with the help of specially-trained rescue dogs.

So far, one Thai national is confirmed to have died in the tragedy. The body of 28 year old Ms Chamaiporn Homsantia, from the north-eastern province of Chaiyaphum, was found in the rubble in the Turkish port city of Iskenderun last week.
