Thailand has been ranked as the third most popular location for digital nomads, those whose professions allow them to work remotely, from wherever they like. According to a report from the National News Bureau of Thailand, the ranking was determined by the website resume.io, which provides resume or CV-building tools.
Thailand took the number 3 spot, coming in behind the US and Spain. The Thai locations most popular with digital nomads include Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Pha Ngan, and Krabi.
The rankings were determined by analysing 25,976 Instagram posts since April, to determine the hashtags most frequently used by digital nomads.
According to the report, there are 4 factors that digital nomads use to decide their work location. The most popular spots are those that are also considered top holiday destinations, where the cost-of-living is affordable, with the amenities necessary for remote working, and where safety is a priority.
