Three Thai women and two Canadian men have been injured in a boat collision on Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River.
The incident happened yesterday, August 15, when an empty vessel crashed into the Chao Phraya Express at around 12.35pm. The collision happened near the mouth of the Bangkok Noi Canal, according to a Bangkok Post report.
It’s understood a boat named the Wan-Ngarm Nawa 8, which was not carrying any passengers at the time, collided with the right side of the Chao Phraya Express 194.

Three Thai women, named as 30 year old Somruethai Thongkhomkham, 49 year old Naruemon Thongkhomkham, and 51 year old Ratchaneekorn Kladkaew, were injured, as were Canadian father and son, 48 year old Niwat Lertnamvongwan and 24 year old Vir Lertnamvongwan, who sustained head and leg injuries.
There was also damage to the roof and five roof poles of the Chao Phraya Express 194.
The Marine Department has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the collision.
It follows a similar incident in early June, when a longtail tour boat collided with a Royal Thai Navy vessel on the Chao Phraya, injuring 4 Chinese tourists.
