The surf is up and Phuket’s beaches are gearing up for this year’s Phuket Beach Festival 2022.
During monsoon season, the west coast of Phuket invites the south-west swell to roll in, providing good waves for beginners and some great competition amongst the local surfing community.
The first competition is at Kata Beach, at the south end of the island, coming up on August 23 – 28.

There are plenty of competition categories, for all ages, lessons for beginners, a beach lifestyle Flea Market, concerts and plenty of people-watching.
Prize money for this year’s competition is 444,000 baht.

In regards to beach safety…
“We have cooperated with international units such as International Life Saving and International Surfing Association to provide practice for surfing trainers.”
The event is also backed by ASC, the Asian Surf Cooperative and the Professional Surfing Boarding Corporation.
