On June 28, Dr. Santi Pawai, Chief Inspector of the Tourism and Sports Ministry, chaired the opening ceremony of the sports personnel potential development activity at the Royal Phuket City Hotel. The activity was created under the tourism and recreation activity promotion project.
The event was attended by the Chief of Phuket Provincial Tourism and Sports Office, Ratchadaporn O-In and President of Phuket Provincial Administration Organisation, Rewat Areerob, as well as the President of Phuket Provincial Sports Association.
Ratchadaporn said that the Phuket Provincial Tourism and Sports Office selected days to arrange activities on June 28-29 at the hotel aiming to promote, develop and elevate the skills of people in tourism and sports circles on the island, making them “volunteers for tourism and sports” and representing the ministry to promote tourism and sports in local communities while also elevate the service standards.
Dr. Santi said that Phuket is “an important tourism province in Thailand. It is beautiful with white sandy beaches while it also offers an outstanding culture and architecture, especially the Sino-European architecture, making the province a destination for both Thai and international tourists”.
“Building trust and accommodating tourists is important. To ensure that the management is conducted in the same direction and follows the government policy, the ministry decided to create a tourism and sports volunteer group.”
Phuket is currently bidding for a number of future international events and aiming to make the island a regional hub for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions).
