Two Australian tourists got into a fight at a bar in Patong, seemingly after one of them miscued a shot on the pool table where they were playing. Footage of the pair’s altercation has gone viral, according to an Australian news outlet.
According to the report, 3 Australian friends arrived at the unnamed bar and ordered beers before starting to play pool.
Video-sharing site Viral Press reports that one of the men then hit the cue ball so hard that it flew off the table. The owner of the bar scolded the tourist, while his friend then accused him of showing off in front of some Thai women who were in the bar.
This comment seems to have angered the Australian, who started shouting at his friend. The verbal altercation quickly turned physical, as the tourist pushed the other man, with the fight then progressing to the street outside.
Meanwhile, the third man tried to intervene, but the shouting and pushing continued.
One of the bar workers, named as Yai Lae Roilan, described how events escalated.
“They came together and looked like friends. One of them hit the ball so hard that it bounced off the table. My boss scolded him and he was embarrassed but furious and picked a fight when his friend teased him.”
