The incident took place yesterday morning, August 21, on Bangla Road in Patong. In the footage, a group of foreign men can be seen arguing with some Thai women, with the altercation then turning physical.

A Thai man wearing a blue shirt can also be seen running down the street and threatening tourists with two large knives. According to the report, the incident took place in the middle of the road, in front of many foreign tourists.

Both the person who filmed the video, and other social media users, have expressed concern about the damage the incident could do to Patong’s reputation as an allegedly “world class” tourism destination (according to local tourism officials).

According to Patong Police, the fight broke out just before 6am, with 2 foreign men injured in the brawl. The authorities are now questioning those involved but have not disclosed their names or nationalities, although some Thai language media outlets report that the men are from the Middle East.
