No injuries have been reported after a fire broke out at a cannabis warehouse in north Phuket.
It’s understood police and the emergency services were alerted to the blaze just before 7.30pm last night, September 15. The warehouse, located in the sub-district of Srisoontorn, in the northern Thalang district, was engulfed in flames and emitting thick black smoke when they arrived on the scene.
According to a Phuket Express report, the building was fitted with an automated electrical system to control the temperature.
It took firefighters more than half an hour to bring the blaze under control. Some firefighters sprayed water inside the facility, while others opened ventilation points to get rid of the smoke.
While the cause of the blaze has yet to be formally established, there is some speculation that it was the result of an electrical short circuit, as the flames were located near the control panel and electrical circuits.
Phuket forensic investigators are now examining the scene to confirm the cause of the fire. The damage has been estimated at around 3 million baht. No injuries were reported.
