Heavy rain in Phuket caused flooding in localised spots around the island, including Patong, yesterday morning (August 22).
The rain started early yesterday causing flooding on many roads and disrupting morning peak hour and school traffic. Traffic police were mostly on hand to help with the morning floods which quickly dissipated.
Heavy rain was predicted over the weekend, lasting until today. Yesterday morning’s flooding is a regular occurrence on parts of the island, particularly Patong where the drainage appears inadequate for the heaviest rain during the annual monsoon.
