Foreign tourists rescued from the waves after nearly drowning at Patong beach

Just days after a Russian man tragically drowned at Patong Beach, two more foreign tourists have had to be rescued from the same stretch of water. Despite the presence of red warning flags and signs instructing people not to enter the sea, the warnings seem to be routinely ignored by some.

If there are red flags along the shore DO NOT enter the water as it’s been assessed as being dangerous for swimming. Along some of Phuket’s west coast beaches, at this time of the year, there can be quite strong and frequent rips which can drag poor swimmers out to sea.

The Phuket Express reports that the two foreigners were spotted struggling in a strong current and dangerous conditions at Patong Beach yesterday morning, May 29.

Lifeguards stationed at the beach managed to bring them both safely back to shore. Their names and nationalities have not been provided.
