On Thursday, May 23, a local restaurant owner in Sri Soonthorn reported an attack by a person she described as a “loan shark”. The Thalang Police received a report from 42 year old ‘Ms. Phon’ who described the incident to the authorities.
She told the police that two men, wearing full helmets, arrived on a sports motorbike, stopping in front of her restaurant on Thep Krasattri Road. The passenger on the back of the bike jumped off, stormed into the restaurant and kicked all the food off the counter, causing approximately 1,000 baht in damages to the food items on the counter.
The whole encounter took less than 10 seconds.
Ms. Phon provided CCTV footage of the incident to police. She was present at the restaurant at the time of the assault, along with her mother.
She told police that the attackers were loan sharks who had previously threatened her. She explained that she had been paying interest regularly but had recently missed payments due to illness. She told police she feared the individuals that attacked, seeking assistance and protection from the police.
