Social media users have praised a Thai Navy officer for helping an injured unconscious man in Phuket yesterday. The Phuket Express reports that on spotting the man, the officer stopped his car at the Jui Tui Intersection in the Old Town area of the island (adjacent to the large Jui Tui Chinese Temple).

The incident happened yesterday, when Chaiwat Yuttapichainawin, Chief Petty Officer First Class from the Royal Thai Navy Region 3, was out driving around Phuket Town with his wife. The officer spotted a man who was lying injured and unconscious following a collision between a motorbike and a car. It’s understood local emergency responders had not yet arrived on the scene.

According to the report, the Navy officer had first-aid training and his wife is a nurse. The couple was able to provide first aid treatment for the man’s head and neck injuries while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

The officer’s actions earned him widespread praise on Thai social media.
