A Phuket driver has been injured in a collision in which he knocked down 6 power poles after losing control of his minivan while navigating a curve. The Phuket Express reports that the incident happened in the early hours of yesterday morning, April 23. It’s understood the minivan was travelling on the two-lane Koh Kaew-Ban Sam Kong Road in the Mueang district.
According to the report, Mueang Police were notified of the accident at 2.30am yesterday and arrived at the scene to find 6 power poles felled, alongside a badly damaged minivan. The driver was still stuck inside, with rescue workers having to wait for the power to be cut before they were able to free him.
The driver was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries, which include a deep wound to his head, are reported to be non-life-threatening.
According to police, the driver told them he was driving from Phuket Town when he lost control of the minivan while negotiating a curve in the road. He says the vehicle struck a power pole, which then struck another and caused all the others to fall.
