A Phuket house was left severely flooded after the theft of a water meter on Wednesday night, June 26.

The Phuket News reports that the meter was stolen from a house near Paknam Seafood on Ratsadanusorn Road, triggering extensive flooding. Police were called to the property just before 11.30pm to find the distressed owner trying to deal with severe water damage.

Officers discovered the thieves had cut off and stolen the water meter, causing water to flood the home.

The authorities have launched an investigation to track down those responsible, as neighbours voiced their concerns about repeat incidents and potential damage to other homes.

Police have asked residents to remain on alert and report any suspicious activity as they continue their search for those responsible.
