Rescue workers in Phuket have plucked a tourist from a tree after he got stuck there while parasailing at Kamala Beach.

It’s understood 26 year old Mohammed Ali Warrad Abdul Wahab, a Saudi national, got his parasail chute caught in the top of the tree when the wind changed direction, leaving him dangling 5 metres above the ground. He was taking a parasail ‘flight’ where tourists are hoisted into the air behind a boat.

The incident happened late yesterday afternoon, July 1, with Surasit Wandee of Kamala Police notified at around 6pm. Police and rescue workers arrived on the scene and, with the aid of a cherry picker, were able to disentangle Mr Wahab from the tree and get him safely back on the ground.

While waiting for rescue workers, the tourist’s friends and some beach vendors had held a tarpaulin under Mr Wahab, in case he fell.
