Phuket police find whiskey bottle at scene of fatal road traffic accident

A man has died after his truck overturned in north Phuket in the early hours of Thursday morning. Another man was injured in the accident, with police also finding a whiskey bottle at the scene.

The Phuket Express reports that Thalang Police were alerted to an accident on the Thepkrasattri Road, in the sub-district of Srisoontorn, at around 1.50am.

On arrival, they found an overturned truck, with the body of the driver, 48 year -old Suwit Korjaroenkit from Paklok, outside the vehicle. Suwit had sustained severe head injuries.

Police also found the truck passenger, 48 year old Witthaya Petchahueng, also from Paklok, who had sustained injuries to his back and arm. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Officers also recovered a bottle of Thai whiskey at the scene of the crash.

Police later examined CCTV footage, which shows Suwit driving in the southbound lane, before the truck suddenly flips, sliding across the central reservation and coming to rest upside down in the northbound lane.

Thalang Police are continuing their investigation to confirm the cause of the accident.
