A Russian man has been killed and his brother seriously injured after crashing their motorbike in north Phuket at the weekend. The Phuket Express reports that the accident occurred near the Bang Pae Waterfall in Thalang district at around 4.30pm on Saturday.
It’s understood the driver, named as 36 year old Mr Maksim, lost control of the bike at a curve and drove off the road. He was killed instantly, while his 32 year old brother, Mr Andrei, survived, but with serious injuries. He was rushed to Vachira Phuket Hospital.
According to police, the brothers had travelled from Patong and were sightseeing in the area and presumably unfamiliar with the road on which they were travelling.
Mr Maksim’s body was transported to a nearby hospital and police are coordinating with the Russian Embassy to repatriate his body to Russia.
As part of their investigation, they plan to interview Mr Andrei once he has recovered sufficiently. The brothers’ surname has been withheld until their family has been informed.
