A security guard at a Rawai nightclub has been fined 1,000 baht after he attacked an American tourist who’d been ejected from the club. On April 8, 33 year old Bryce Alan Terzian was removed from the venue by a security guard after he started a row with the club’s DJ.
According to a Phuket Express report, as Mr Terzian lay on the ground outside, another security guard, named as 45 year old Prasert Mardsatun, allegedly attacked him.
The following morning, the American filed a report with Chalong Police. However, after several days of alleged police inaction, Mr Terzian posted a video of the incident on social media, which quickly went viral.
Ekkarat Plaiduang, chief of Chalong Police, says that on Monday, April 17, Prasert and Terzian met at Chalong Police Station. The security guard apologised to the American and Terzian confirmed he would not be taking any further action against Prasert.
It’s understood the American stated that he will be returning home soon and wants to enjoy the time he has left in Phuket, without having to visit the police station again or wait for a court case.
In addition to Prasert being fined 1,000 baht for causing bodily harm, the owner of the nightclub agreed to pay for Mr Terzian’s medical treatment. The police have not named the club in question.
