From today until Saturday, September 7, there will be some disruption to traffic flow in the north of Phuket, with the installation of a new drainage system along Route 4031 (Thepkasattri – Nai Yang Road).

The Phuket News reports that traffic will be reduced to one lane along a 750 metre section between the Muk Dok Khao intersection and the airport. In an announcement from the Phuket Highways Office, officials explained that the closure of sections of the road is necessary in order to install a “box culvert” drainage system beneath the road surface.

Motorists travelling southbound from the airport will have access to one lane, while northbound traffic travelling from the Muk Dok Khao intersection towards the airport will need to take a different route.

The highways office advises motorists headed to the airport to take a left turn at Km.2+500, in the direction of Baan Phru Somphan. In its announcement, the office apologised to road users for the inconvenience.
