Phuket is to feature in the first-ever “best of” list being compiled by online travel agency, Trip.com. The southern Thai island will feature alongside other popular tourism destinations such as Bangkok, Koh Samui, and Chiang Mai, according to a report from Travel Daily Media. The list will showcase the best hotel experiences on offer in Phuket and other parts of Thailand.

It’s understood Trip.com is curating a list of hotels, to offer users the best options for their trip. The list will eventually encompass the world’s most popular tourism destinations, but the travel firm has opted to start with Phuket and other Thai tourism hotspots.

The “best of” list is being compiled from feedback from Trip.com users and other members of the public, as well as professional evaluations. In total, the company is creating 24 easy-to-navigate lists, to cover 8 themes: Luxury, Upscale, Family, Instagram-worthy, Scenic, Local experience, Villas, and Gourmet & Shopping.

The idea is that from there, users can select the perfect hotel to create their own customised trip, whether that’s to include rooftop bars, spa experiences, or ocean views. In total, the lists will feature over 200 Thai hotels. Among them is Phuket’s exclusive Sinae Phuket Luxury Hotel.

As the tourism sector in Phuket and the rest of the country emerges from the ravages of the pandemic, things are finally starting to look up as visitor numbers increase and travel and other Covid-related restrictions continue to be eased.
