Phuket Airport officials have scrambled to “clarify” the situation last Thursday night when 300+ passengers were stranded overnight after a Thai VietJet flight was unable to take off on its scheduled flight to Bangkok because “there were not enough seats”.

The police investigation into one particular Chinese crime ‘kingpin’ has expanded to Phuket, with several businesses raided and live snakes seized, along with computers and vehicles.

Over 100,000 kilograms of trash and garbage have been dumped on Koh Sirae for over 20 years. Koh Sirae is the 20-square-kilometre island, located east of Phuket Town. A local environmental watchdog group say people have been dumping their garbage on the island for more than 20 years.

Patong Hill Road is now open to small vehicles IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. The decision was made this week to reopen the stretch of road being repaired at this time to “small” vehicles which includes cars, pick-ups and passenger vans.

Phuket’s international arrival numbers hit 10,000 people (per day) for the first time since Thailand’s borders were shut down as a Covid precaution in April 2020. The surge of travellers matches the annual high-season which traditionally sees the largest contingent of arrivals during December and January each year.
