Thai Airways has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Singapore Airlines to expand their codeshare flights. Both airlines will initially operate codeshare flights between Singapore and Bangkok, while the Thai carrier will also benefit from a codeshare arrangement on Singapore Airlines flights to South Africa (Cape Town and Johannesburg), the US (San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles, Houston, JFK New York, and Newark), and Canada (Vancouver).

Singapore Airlines have recovered more quickly than Thai Airways, even though both countries lifted restrictions at approximately the same time.

Subject to regulatory approval, the codeshare agreement for SQ and TG is expected to take effect from the first quarter of 2023. It’s understood both carriers could potentially expand the codeshare agreement to cover flights to and from Europe, India, and the South West Pacific region.

Singapore Airlines CEO Goh Choon Phong says the close relationship between both carriers goes back many years and the MoU will only serve to strengthen that.

“This is a win-win opportunity to support the growth of our respective hubs and enhance the options and service offerings for our customers.”
