Thai police hunt two Scottish men over murder of Burmese businessman

Police in Bangkok are seeking two Scottish men in connection with the murder of a Burmese businessman on Tuesday, February 13. The three were involved in currency exchange businesses and appear to have been getting ready to produce counterfeit currency.

The victim’s mother has accused the two men of killing her son in an apartment on Sukhumvit Soi 4 and stealing around 5 million baht from him. She says the men had partnered with her son in a money exchange business.

Speaking to officers from Lumpini Police Station, the woman says she was with her son at his apartment when the men arrived and assaulted both of them. She says the attack left her unconscious and when she woke up, she found her dead son lying in a pool of blood. The woman also accuses the men of stealing five million baht in cash from a safe in the apartment.

Thai PBS World reports that police are now trying to get CCTV footage from the building and surrounding area prior to obtaining arrest warrants for the two suspects. Officers say they have not yet determined a motive for the alleged murder and the investigation is ongoing.
