“Heavy rain, strong waves” for Phuket, Andaman region

The wet weather is back in Phuket and nearby areas, at least for the next few days, according to the latest advisory. The Southern Western Meteorological Centre has warned of heavy rain through to Thursday for residents in Phuket, Ranong, Phang Nga, Krabi, Trang and Satun.

“The public is urged to be aware of dangerous conditions caused by heavy to very heavy rain. This includes strong wind waves in the Andaman Sea, which could reach over 2 metres in height during thunderstorms. Boat operators are advised to avoid thunderstorm areas and proceed with caution.”

“The northwest wind that prevails over the Andaman Sea and the south west coast will be stronger. Boat operators are asked to be careful in navigation and avoid navigation in thunderstorm areas. Please follow closely the announcements from the Thai Meterological Department.”

The advisory was issued yesterday by Wirot Liw Charoensap, director of the Southern Western Meteorological Centre. The next advisory will be issued at 5am tomorrow.
