A man who fired shots at a car as it departed a hospital car park in Phuket Town has been charged with attempted murder. The Phuket Express reports that 31 year old Mr Tanakorn is being charged with attempted murder, carrying a gun in public without permission, firing a firearm in public, and possession of a firearm and ammunition without a permit.

The charges stem from an incident on Tuesday morning in the car park building of Vachira Hospital on Yaowarat Road in the Mueang district. Tanakorn was attempting to park his pick-up truck on the fifth floor of the building and was having some difficulty, making it a slow process.

A seemingly impatient driver in a car behind him started to sound his horn. After Tanakorn managed to park his truck, the other car sped off. CCTV footage then shows Tanakorn getting out of his vehicle and firing shots at the departing car.

According to Phuket City Police, the driver of the car says he sounded his horn as he was afraid Tanakorn did not realise he was behind him as he was reversing his truck. It’s understood both men got into a verbal altercation before the car sped away. The driver says he notified police following the incident.
