Long-awaited road construction paralleling Phuket airport road

Phuket Vice Governor, Pichet Panapong, visited the road number 4031 Muddoklhao-Airport with a team to follow up the development of the road construction and to urge the construction to be completed within the deadline.

The road starts at Thepkasatri Road, follows the Phuket Airport runway towards the beach, sweeps past the back of the spirant National Park beaches and Nathan Beach, then meanders through some local villagers and back to Thepkasatri Road.

The section being duplicated only refers to the section running parallel with the east-west runway for the airport.

The construction started on March 10, 2022 and the deadline is set for October 5, 2022, for a total construction period of 210 days.

The Vice Governor said that the contractor is currently building the drain then they will adjust the road surface and continue to build the road as planned. The construction, so far, has about 9% progress and 11% delay, according to the Phuket Provincial Office.

However, he said, the contractor is urged to rush and finish the work within the deadline mentioned in the contract.

Phuket Highways Office announced for a temporary closure of the road to extend the route to the airport since November 1, 2021.
