French and Thai men injured after brawl in Karon

Last Monday there was an violent incident between a French national and a Thai man, resulting in serious injuries in Karon. The incident kicked off around 9:30pm but wasn’t reported until almost 2 hours later.

According to the police report, Jirasak ‘Mun’ Thonghor threw a beer bottle into the residence of 50 year old Arnaud Cezard, a French national, sparking a confrontation that escalated into a physical fight involving knives and a sword.

The Karon Police were alerted to the incident at approximately 11:00pm Responding officers met with Ms. Amarat Mahayeh, who reported finding Mr. Jirasak shouting for help outside her dormitory.

“She noticed he was losing consciousness from a stab wound on his left side and arranged for a taxi to take him to Chalong Hospital.”

CCTV footage shows that Mr. Jirasak had ridden his motorbike from a nearby 7-Eleven to Mr. Cezard’s house on Soi Green Drinking Water, where the altercation took place. Eyewitness Nourriya Jeali confirmed that Mr. Jirasak’s action of throwing the beer bottle that provoked Mr. Cezard, leading to the fight.

During the altercation, two unidentified Thai men attempted to intervene.

Both men sustained injuries: Mr. Jirasak was seriously wounded with a stab wound to the lung, while Mr. Cezard was also injured but has since recovered. Mr. Jirasak remains in serious condition.

Mr. Cezard was treated at Dibuk Hospital and is now considered “safe” by hospital staff.

Police are continuing their investigation, reviewing CCTV footage, and interviewing more witnesses to understand the full circumstances of the incident and to decide on any legal proceedings. Bloodstains found on the street confirm it as the crime scene.
