Another two foreigners have been arrested in Phuket for trying to remove a police lock from a motorbike. There appears to be no shortage of police to chain the rear wheel of offending motorcyclists, nor foreigners who think it’s going to be cheaper to try and remove the chains rather than pay the 500 baht fine.
The arrest of two French nationals follows those of a Turkish man and a Russian national, both of whom were arrested separately for the same offence.
The Phuket Express reports that the French men were apprehended yesterday, May 2, after trying to break a chain the police had placed on their motorbike. It’s understood the bike had been parked in a no-parking zone in Patong.
As often happens, the men were filmed as they used a rock to try and break the chain on their bike, which was parked near the Dolphin Circle on the Patong Beach Road. The footage was then widely shared on social media.
Patong Police moved quickly to arrest the pair, who face charges of destruction of police property. Neither man has been named.
