Phuket police arrest suspect in burglary of foreign-owned villa

Chalong Police have arrested a man wanted in connection with the burglary of a foreign-owned villa, according to a Phuket News report.

The suspect, named as 45 year old Santi Buakaew and a resident of Cherngtalay, in the coastal area of Thalang district, was arrested in Rawai. Santi was wanted for breaking into and robbing a villa in an undisclosed part of the island last October.

On October 2, Phuket Provincial Court issued a warrant for his arrest. The authorities have not provided any information on the property that was targeted or on the nature of any items stolen or their value.

During Santi’s arrest, police also confiscated his Honda motorbike and helmet and a grey hoodie top and shoulder bag. Officers also seized cash in various currencies, including a €100 banknote, one €50 banknote, one US$20 banknote, one US$1 banknote, three 1-ringgit banknotes and one 5-ringgit banknote.

Santi faces charges of forced entry into a property and committing theft at night, while using a vehicle to commit a crime. He remains in custody at Chalong Police Station.
