Officials in Phuket have raided another nightclub, following raids on 2 clubs in Kathu last week, which saw 5 senior police officers transferred. This time, the raid was in Phuket Town, at a club that was allegedly staying open after the legal closing time and admitting minors. Officials discovered 3 customers aged 19 at the venue. The law in Thailand is that people must be at least 20 years old to visit a nightclub.
The Phuket Express reports that Pairoj Srilamoon, chief of Mueang Phuket district, has confirmed that a team of officials from his office raided the venue at around 1.30am on Tuesday, June 6. The club has not been named in reports, but is understood to be on Chana Jaroen Road, near the Seahorse Circle, in the sub-district of Talad Yai.
The owner has been arrested and taken to Phuket City Police Station. The authorities have named him only as Mr Tanya and says he will be charged with operating a nightclub without authorisation, selling alcohol after the legal sales hours, opening a nightlife past legal closing hours, and admitting customers under the age of 20.
