A British tourist has been rescued after the captain of the longtail boat he was travelling in fell unconscious. The Phuket Express reports that the unnamed Briton hired a longtail from An Pao Pier on Koh Yao Noi on Friday, August 11.

Koh Yao Noi is an island in Phang Nga Bay, about 20 kilometres east of the northern end of Phuket.

The British man planned to visit nearby islands, but while they were at sea, the boat captain suddenly passed out. Unable to drive the longtail himself, the tourist called the 1155 tourist police hotline.

After explaining his predicament, the tourist police contacted the local village headman, administrative officers, and rescuers. Rescue workers went to sea and located the boat and tourist, who was transported back to dry land.

The longtail captain has been taken to Koh Yao hospital. His name has not been released, nor is there any information on his medical condition.

According to the report, the grateful tourist has thanked the tourist police and rescuers for their quick response.
