Four people have been injured in a scissor attack on Koh Pha Ngan, allegedly carried out by a Burmese man who had been rejected romantically by one of them. The Phuket Express reports that the man, named as 31 year old Aung Htwe Naing, is now in police custody after Saturday’s attack.
Koh Pha Ngan is one of the trio of popular tourist islands grouped off the coast of Surat Thani and is famous for its monthly Full Moon Party.
The man is accused of attacking a Thai woman and 3 Thai men with scissors and a wooden stick, after the woman rejected his romantic advances. He then fled the scene and was subsequently arrested at a workers’ camp at around 5.00pm on Sunday. He is being held at Koh Pha Ngan police station and faces charges of intent to commit murder.
According to the report, the unnamed Thai woman told police that the Burmese man had a crush on her but she had rejected his advances as the feeling wasn’t mutual. He then lost his temper and attacked her and 3 male friends.
