Drunk German arrested on Koh Samui for motorbike theft, overstay

Police on Koh Samui have arrested a 23 year old German citizen who stole a motorbike from a local resident while intoxicated. Following his arrest, officers discovered that the man had also overstayed his visa by 34 days.

The unnamed man was arrested near a hotel by Chaweng Beach after a local resident reported the theft of a motorbike. Police used CCTV footage to track the perpetrator, who was then arrested and taken to Bo Phut Police Station.

Seemingly, it’s not the German man’s first offence, with officers from Samui Immigration confirming he has been arrested before for causing a public nuisance. At the time of his previous arrest, he was in the kingdom on a tourist visa, had spent all his money, and had nowhere to stay. He allegedly then began causing problems for local residents, leading to his arrest.

According to the report, the police haven’t clarified why the man was released following that arrest. However, they have confirmed that on this occasion, he will be deported and blacklisted. They did not specify if he would be prosecuted for stealing the motorbike prior to his deportation.
