An elderly Iranian tourist is being treated at a hospital in Krabi after being saved from a drowning incident. The 71 year old man was found unconscious at Koh Pak Kah, around 3 kilometres from the Hong Islands, in the district of Ao Luek.

Siriwat Suebsai, chief of Than Bok Khorani National Park, says the authorities were notified on Monday, November 6, that a tourist had got into difficulties while swimming. When they arrived on the scene, they found the man was being given CPR, before being rushed to hospital.

Siriwat says the tourist has a history of high blood pressure and it’s thought he may have fainted while in the water. The unnamed Iranian man was staying at a hotel in Ao Nang, Krabi, and was on a day trip to the islands in the company of his family and a tour guide.

According to the report, the man remains in hospital in a serious condition.
