Police on Koh Samui have arrested a Russian man for alleged assault and possession of illegal weapons. It’s understood Bophut Police were acting on a tip-off from the man’s girlfriend when they apprehended the 38 year old, named only as Mr Nikhita.
According to a Phuket Express report, the Russian was arrested at a luxury villa in the Maret sub-district on Tuesday, April 23. He was detained under an arrest warrant issue by Samui Provincial Court after his girlfriend filed a police report accusing him of sexual assault and threatening her with a gun.
While arresting Nikhita, officers found a collection of unlicenced weapons, including a handgun and a rifle with ammunition. They also found a BMW car, a pick-up truck with no licence plates, and a Ducati motorbike.
It’s understood Nikhita owns an Italian restaurant near Baan Bang Rak Pier, although the authorities have declined to name the business while their investigation is ongoing. He has admitted to owning the weapons but would not comment on his girlfriend’s allegations.
He is currently in custody at Bophut Police Station, facing multiple serious charges and the possibility of deportation.
