But The Pattaya News reports that police on Koh Samui have found 4 guns and over 200 bullets in a search of a Swedish man’s home. The 33 year old Swede, named only as “Mr Adam” is a “businessman”, who lives in the sub-district of Bo Phut.
Meanwhile The Thaiger reports that the man was Danish.
According to the report, officers from the Immigration Bureau obtained a search warrant for Mr Adam’s property on Tuesday, October 10. There, they discovered a rifle and 3 handguns, and over 200 bullets.
The Swedish national, according to The Pattaya News story, was subsequently questioned at Bo Phut Police Station, where he told officers he enjoys collecting guns and likes shooting. He has admitted to ordering some of the weapons and bullets online, while he borrowed others from friends.
Suppakorn Pankosol, chief of Surat Thani Immigration, says the Swede is facing charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
“We found that these guns and bullets were ordered online from the northeast of Thailand. Mr. Adam used these guns to practice shooting at a shooting range on Samui Island. He also posted on social media that he likes to collect guns. Many of his online posts also seemed to threaten other foreigners. Mr. Adam has fitness businesses and has stayed in Thailand for a long time.”
According to the report, it is not known if Mr Adam has been granted bail or if he has hired a lawyer.
