A 16 year old boy has been shot dead in Bangkok, in what is understood to have been a targeted shooting. The teenager was a technical college student, who was on his way to college when he was fatally shot in the chest.
Nation Thailand reports that the unnamed boy’s body was found on Soi Ranong 2 in the Dusit district, shortly before 9.00am, yesterday, November 20.
He is the third person to be shot dead in the capital this month, after a teacher was caught in the crossfire of an ongoing student feud. Sirada Sinprasert was killed by a stray bullet in the Klong Toei district on Saturday, November 11. A student who was shot in the same incident died on Sunday, November 19.
Following yesterday’s shooting, police found a pen gun of around 25 centimetres in length at the scene of the shooting. The authorities say the shooting victim was travelling on the back of his friend’s motorbike when they were stopped by 3 or 4 people who were on motorbikes with no licences plates.
One of the group fired a gun at the second-year student before the gang made their escape along Rama V Road. Thailand’s national police chief has told officers to arrest the perpetrator as quickly as possible. Torsak Sukvimol has also instructed local police to implement measures to prevent any further student shootings.
