Eight suspects (some media are reporting up to 10) are in custody suspected of being involved in a fatal Bangkok shooting that killed a teacher and student.
On November 11, two people on a motorbike stopped at a bus stop on Sunthorn Kosa Road, in the Khlong Toei area of the capital. The pillion passenger got off the bike and began shooting at a group of students from Rajamangala University of Technology.
A stray bullet struck Sarida Sinprasert, a teacher who was standing nearby, who died at the scene. A student who was injured died on Sunday, November 19, at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital.
Thai PBS World reports that yesterday morning, police carried out raids across five locations in the Pathumwan district and the central province of Nonthaburi.
During a search of a house in the Sai Noi district of Nonthaburi, police arrested a man named only as “Warongchai”, on an arrest warrant issued by the Bangkok South Criminal Court. Officers also seized a car, a T-shirt, and a mobile phone, along with a number of other items.
Meanwhile, other police teams raided another four properties in the Pathumwan area of Bangkok, arresting another 7 people.
All 8 suspects were taken to the Metropolitan Police Bureau to have their fingerprints taken. They were then transported to Thung Mahamek Police Station for questioning.
